Aluminum Foil: Hate throwing away those used-but-still-clean pieces of foil? Bunch them together and voila! --You have the equivalent of a steel-wool sponge, great for scrubbing stubborn dirt or food off your glassware.

Cooking Spray: The perfect spray for cutting lime deposits, soap and paint, grease, and clay-based residue. Use liberally on outdoor tools such as shovels for nonstick yard work. Our favorite use? Spray inside candle holders before lighting for worry-free wax drips. Any hardened wax slides right off.

Car Wax: If you don't wax your car enough to make that tub worth the purchase, you can wax your stovetop, chrome sink, and other ceramic and metal surfaces for a pristine polish. Simply apply a thin layer and wipe off. This also help protect the surface, and will increase its durability.

Fabric Sheet: Those fragrant sheets you throw in the dryer have some surprising new purposes. Set your iron to low heat, then wipe it down with a dryer sheet until all residue is removed. You iron now looks good as new. Pair them with a little water and try them on your shower door to remove soap scum. Slip them in shoes as a deodorizer, or smooth over clothes or even hair to dispel clingy static.

Rice: Uncooked rice can absorb moisture and reach places your sponge can't. Add rice with soap to narrow-necked bottles and vases and shake until clean. This trick also works with crushed eggshells. Another common use is to add uncooked rice to your salt shaker. This helps absorb any moisture and loosens your salt for easy shaking.
