Innovative Cleaning with Household Objects - Part 3
We couldn't resist another bundle of tips that will save you both time and money. You might be surprised at the many cleaning uses there are for some of the things in your fridge and cupboards.
Alka-Seltzer - These tablets can clean all the places out of your reach. To clear your kitchen sink pipes, three tablets down the drain followed by a cup of white vinegar will do the trick. Wait a few minutes before rinsing for best results. Alka-Seltzers can also clean thermoses and narrow vases when your sponge can't reach. Simply soak the stains away with water and a few tablets.
Dishwasher Powder - Mix with water to make a paste that will loosen up stubborn burnt food from pots and pans. Apply and let soak overnight for an easy clean the next day. You can also add baking soda for an extra kick.
Baby Oil - In small amounts, this can work wonders on your home. Baby oil can ward off soap scum and grease on your shower door, remove latex paint spills from most surfaces--including your skin--and is an inexpensive polisher for aluminum and other metal objects. Wipe it on with a clean rag and just like that, you have instant shine.
Salt - Salt adds a punch to your scrubbing capabilities. Use salt with a sponge for extra scouring power on iron pans or to remove rust from tough surfaces. Warning: Salt is very abrasive, so be sure you use it only on tough surfaces that won't scratch.
Cinnamon - If you're looking for a naturally beautiful scent for your kitchen, avoid the chemical air fresheners. Set a pot filled with water, a few cinnamon sticks, and some cloves on the stove to boil. The aroma will make your kitchen smell good enough to eat.
Save time, money, and energy for the things you love, and let these simple household ingredients work their squeaky-clean magic on your home. We think you'll love the results!
