Spreading the Christmas Cleaning Cheer

The Holiday season is in full swing and amidst all the shopping, decorating, baking, presents, and holly jolly times it can be difficult to maintain a clean and clutter free home. Really, why spend all your time cleaning and organizing when you could be spending it roasting chestnuts on an open fire, dashing through the snow, or caroling through the town?

If you'd like to take full advantage of the most wonderful time of the year, here are a few tips and ideas you can follow to keep your home neat and tidy all season long.

If all you want for Christmas is a nice clean home, then the first step is to get rid of clutter. An easy way to do this is to this is to de-clutter while you're decking the halls of your home. When pulling out those boxes filled with holiday cheer that you've stored in hard to reach places, take advantage of the time and use it to organize the surrounding space. Who knows, you may find some long lost treasures.

You can take the boxes that used to hold your silver bells and fill them with the decor from around your home that you use throughout the year. This will keep your decorations safely and neatly stored while helping your home remain clutter free.

Now that the seasonal decorations are out and the closets are organized, it's time to start on the rest of your home to get it fresh and sparkling for the holiday season. Don't worry, you'll have plenty of time to sip on eggnog and rock around the Christmas tree; in fact, you can do that and more all the while taking care of household chores.

Whether you're decorating your mantel with the little town of Bethlehem, setting up the O Christmas tree, or hanging the mistletoe for all to see, you can use that time to wipe off the mantle place, dust the shelves, and wipe down the corners of your home that you don't usually get to. Have a spray bottle of disinfectant and a clean rag on hand at all times so you can clean any dust and grime along the way, giving your home that special sparkle for the holidays.

So turn on some sweet Christmas tunes, pour yourself a cup of your favorite holiday beverage, and get started on making your home as bright and cheery as the season. It's hard to have a blue Christmas when your home is in pristine condition.
